Conscious Communication
Communication is a deadly art form. It can kill common misconceptions, break through moments of disparity, ignite the flames of team work, or help you order a pizza. We all know I love pizza.
But communication can also be detrimental to all of those things. Lack of it can burn bridges built, and destroy rapport between two people, or even groups of people. Assuming someone understands your needs and wants is not communication. It is exactly that — an assumption.
Be mindful of what others may or may not know. Conscious communication. What that means is: make the effort to explicitly open the line for listening and conversation. What goes unsaid gets misinterpreted, misunderstood, and leaves others misinformed.
Be conscious of your communication.
