Watch Your Tone

The way you speak to others influences their interactions with you. Language generates energy. In an already hostile situation, choosing the right words will — not can, but will — determine the outcome of that interaction. In a moment where encouragement is needed, the right words can change a path. A decision. A life.

Do not give power to negative energy. Adding fuel to a fire when water is needed leads to others seeing you as an instigator. Improper communication is just as bad, and sometimes worse, than no communication.

Watching your tone, and levelling your frustrations before speaking, can afford you many opportunities to lead others to cooler heads. In doing so you propel yourself into leadership. You inspire trust among friends and family. Most importantly, it makes you approachable — and you cannot have opportunity if you are not approachable.
