Communication
What makes an effective leader? What moves people to follow and believe in the path being created by others before them? Some will say faith. Trust. Hope.
I say communication.
To be a great leader, yes, you have to inspire. You have to have a knack for asking why — and when that why is asked, you have to be able to provide the how. Providing that how is the hard part. Being able to communicate a message, goal, plan, or even your feelings clearly and concisely helps others not only trust, but understand.
But the most useful and effective tool a good communicator can employ is knowing when and how to listen. I believe listening is the foundation of communication. Listening to understand. To gain insight and knowledge. Listening to share — to share in the opening of pathways you have not yet traveled.
Communication. Don’t lack it.
